A No-Reference Sharpness Metric Based on Structured Ringing for JPEG2000 Images

Abstract: This work presents a no-reference image sharpness metric based on human blur perception for JPEG2000 compressed image. The metric mainly uses a ringing measure. And a blurring measure is used for compensation when the blur is so severe that ringing artifacts are concealed. We used the anisotropic diffusion for the preliminary ringing map and refined it by considering the property of ringing structure. The ringing detection of the proposed metric does not depend on edge detection, which is suitable for high degraded images. The characteristics of the ringing and blurring measures are analyzed and validated theoretically and experimentally. The performance of the proposed metric is tested and compared with that of some existing JPEG2000 sharpness metrics on three widely used databases. The experimental results show that the proposed metric is accurate and reliable in predicting the sharpness of JPEG2000 images. 1. Introduction Images are usually degraded by various factors such as defocusing and compression. Thus, it is more and more necessary to assess the image quality. The most reliable approach of image quality assessment is in the subjective way. The mean opinion score method is commonly used. It is implemented by subjective rating followed by some statistical processes to derive the mean opinion score (MOS). However, the subjective assessment is time-consuming, costly, and impractical. Hence, recently, there has been an increasing interest from the research community and industry towards developing objective assessment techniques. The objective metrics can be divided into three categories: full reference (FR), reduced reference (RR), and no reference (NR) [1]. FR utilizes all information of the reference image while RR uses the detected features. However, the reference image or its features cannot be obtained sometimes. NR needs no reference information. It is widely used and challenging. As the data volume is increasing apace, the limitation of the bandwidth becomes critical. It is more necessary to compress images. Different compression techniques introduce very different distortions. The discrete cosine transform (DCT) [2] based techniques, for example, JPEG and MPEG, lead to blockiness, whereas the JPEG2000 compression [3, 4] involving wavelet transform [5] mainly introduces blurring and ringing artifacts [6]. Abstract: To overcome challenges of inhomogeneous transmit B1 distribution and high specific energy absorption rate (SAR) in MRI, we compare slice-selective array-optimized composite pulse and RF shimming designed to both improve B1 uniformity and reduce SAR using an 8-channel transmit head array loaded with a head model at various RF pulse excitation times, and compare results with standard quadrature voltage distribution at 3T (128 MHz) and 7T (300 MHz). The excitation uniformity was estimated throughout the 3D brain region and SAR was calculated for the whole head. The optimized composite pulse could produce significantly better homogeneity and significantly better homogeneity when SAR was not constrained, and both significantly better homogeneity and lower SAR when the pulse duration was allowed to be twice that of the quadrature or RF shimmed pulse. When the total pulse durations were constrained to the same length, the relative advantages of the optimized composite pulse for producing better homogeneity and lower SAR simultaneously were diminished. Using the optimization results, the slice-selective composite pulse sequence was implemented on a 3D MRI simulator currently under development, and showed both effective slice selection and improvement in excitation uniformity compared to a conventional quadrature driving method.

Abstract: With the rapid development of the real estate industry, the real estate bubble has attracted more and more attention. Using the efficacy coefficient method, we measure the real estate bubble of Guangzhou city from 2007 to 2016. The results show that from 2007 to 2016, the comprehensive coefficient of the real estate market bubbles in Guangzhou is on alert and worthy of attention.

Abstract:

Objectives: As a result of global warming, precipitation is likely to increase at certain area (high latitudes). However, the mechanisms that human activity is influenced by global climate change are far from completely understood. We try to analyze the relationship between industrial emission (trace metal, nitrogen and phosphorus) and climate signature (precipitation) by Chinese industrialization progresses. Methods: Mainly by using the public data from Bulletin of Environment in China, Bulletin of Marine Environmental Status of China and some data of our experiments, we get the analyzed result. Results: Annual average temperature in China after industrialization is significantly increased, whereas annual average precipitation in China after industrialization is no significantly difference. Phytoplankton increases evaporation of seawater and the relative humidity. Phytoplankton biomass will be different in different stages of environmental pollution in coastal areas. The higher relative humidity of Guangzhou (near the second-third class pollution coast-Shenzhen coast with higher phytoplankton biomass) has higher precipitation; in contrast, lower relative humidity of Shanghai (near the inferior fouth class Zhejiang coast) has lower precipitation recent years. Conclusions: Industrial emissions may have two competing effects: one is to promote the growth of phytoplankton and then cause higher seawater evaporation rates and precipitation; another is to decrease water vapour pressure by serious pollution, which then reduces the seawater evaporation rate and precipitation. With temperature increasing, the precipitation is likely to increase only at low pollution area (high latitudes).

Abstract: This paper recognizes multidimensional poverty in rural China using the Mahalanobis-Taguchi System on the China Labor-force Dynamic survey (CLDS) 2014 dataset. Six dimensions are included: Income, Education, health, living, asset and housing. Results suggest that the MTS can precisely recognize poor and non-poor households and select the main indexes leading to multidimensional poverty. Enhancing income and improving farming efficiency are the main means of poverty reduction. Moreover, improving rural living and health conditions by strengthening public services and infrastructure should also be a policymaking concern.

Abstract: In order to have a better understanding of the electronic structures and physical properties of Cu2-δX (X = Se, S, Te) copper chalcogenides. First principles were performed to calculate the chemical shift, band structure, and electron density of states of Cu2-δX (X = Se, S, Te). By comparing our calculation results with previous experimental works, we found that the predicted electronic structures of Cu2Se, Cu2Te and Cu2S transform from semimetal to semiconductor after adding on-site Coulomb U, which reflects the real properties of the materials. By using (Density Functional Theory) DFT + U method, the calculation result is close to the real electronic structure. The calculation result of chemical shift of adding U does not reach the ideal expectation, and the reason is not clear at present. In this paper, the theoretical electronic structures of Cu2Se, Cu2Te and Cu2S are better calculated by DFT + U method and compared with the actual properties. The effect of Cu-s electron on the chemical shift is understood, and a theoretical result of the chemical shift is calculated, which provides a powerful reference for the subsequent research and understanding of the electronic structure and physical properties of the compounds with S groups of Cu.

Abstract: 研究了二元非均匀体系扩散的非线性动力学离散模型与Fick扩散定律和Cahn-Hilliard扩散方程的相关性.二元非均匀体系非线性动力学离散模型中,因原子的扩散系数与局部原子浓度强相关,扩散非对称性系数m'和有序能V是主要影响参数.采用非线性动力学离散模型和Cahn-Hilliard扩散方程分别计算了调制周期为4.8,9.6和48 nm的Mo/V纳米多层薄膜的互扩散行为. Fick扩散定律和Cahn-Hilliard扩散方程等经典扩散定律和非线性动力学离散模型均可合理描述较大扩散尺度的扩散,随着扩散尺度的减小,经典扩散定律偏差逐渐增大,纳米尺度下的扩散需用非线性动力学离散模型描述.

Abstract: ABSTRACT This article presents an indoor infant monitoring system based on Android system which employs a low-cost Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) pseudolite to accurately locate the infants in the activity indoors and timely remind the parents. It can achieve a positioning accuracy better than 2 m and effectively reduce the risk of injury to infants and young children. The performance of the proposed system, using false negative rate, false alarm rate, and alarm response time as indicators, is compared with that of the system using Quuppa as a positioning source. The experiment results show that both BLE pseudolite and Quuppa as a positioning source can basically meet the positioning accuracy for the infant monitoring system, but the BLE-pseudolite-based system provides a more cost-efficient solution
